Our Green Needs Attention

From now during the winter period it is the intention to continue to spray the green to eliminate moss. Secondly the carpet surface must be powerwashed and vacuumed to get rid of the gunge that lodges in the weave of the carpet.

We will spray “Wetting Agent” on the surface of the green. This loosens the  pores of         the carpet and (we have been informed) the underlay and this we hope will assist in a faster drainage of the surface area.

We need volunteers to do this powerwashing and vacuuming that is essential to the longevity of the green.

It is envisaged that this job will be done during the Winter League period by various teams of 2/3/4 per team. See Teams make up in Wendy House at the green.

This work will be co-ordinated by :

Nicky O Meara     086 087779,

Please contact the coordinator so that we can make a start on this work. We have to get our teams in place when Winter League breaks for Christmas on 7th December.

Please note work can be done on sections of the green during the periods Monday to Friday ( but not Tuesday 11am – 1 pm).During the Winter League period the green is free for workgroups from 1.30p.m on a Saturday.

Club News:

The bowls trip in October to Torremolinos was very enjoyable. Again, our thanks go to Tom Smith for his tireless and meticulous work on behalf of the touring group.

Our Winter League team have won their first  five games and hold top of the table status in the Northern Section, with a game in hand due to “ an absence” when on our spanish trip. It is early days yet but a good start is, as they say, half the work. Well done to all involved.
